Create your own user feedback survey

Above is the survey used to receive the final audience feedback once the final products we completed. I used an interactive survey as well as physically asking questions so I could receive feedback from a wider audience. The analysis of this survey can be seen in the videos above.

Editing Diary (11th January)

In today's lesson, we came with areas to improve the video after watching it a few times before. This lesson was all about making these improvements and we found this to be very helpful because we believe that we now virtually finished. The areas that we picked up on were only minor because we edited the video meticulously and they were mainly lip syncing errors, which if are slightly off can look bad. Below is an image outlining the elements of the video that we improved...

Clipmask Panel

After a suggestion, I made a clip mask panel to add more manipulation to my cover. However, I am not convinced that this looks better than the normal panel. I will ask for some feedback from my peers to make a decision. Also, it may make more sense to not use the artist name as this is on the front cover, so I will consider what else may look good in this position.

Digipak Poster

Digipak Panels

Digipak Overview (Final)

Additional Panel Change

Here is the decided second inside panel. I have changed my mind on the dedication panel as I feel this does not suit the genre well enough, or the rest of the digipak in this case. I think this panel suits the genre, as a smashed bottle implies the rock and roll and disruption associated with my artist. I think that the effect has worked incredibly well also, as the worn concrete looks grungy and urban. The glass also links to the song we created 'Wall Of Glass', which is also important in the branding aspect of the task.

Editing Digipak- From Audience Feedback

From my audience feedback, I was told that I should use a panel with a simple image. Due to the brit indie genre, I needed to pick a slightly edgy and grungy image, as I was suggested a brick wall. The image above is a worn wood background and I like the effect it has given. I will need to add text also, likely to be a dedication or possibly a quote. I like the more regular font for this message as I think it makes more sense and keeps the digipak more consistent. I will research further and see if their is any particular message or quote I should try to include.

Ancillary Tasks- Audience Feedback

In Todays lesson i asked for some overall feedback on my products so far and it was mostly positive, with a few adjustments and suggestions offered to improve it further. The main feedback was-
  • Clear Theme which worked well and looked good
  • Poster and Digipak works well in synergy
  • Everything is in conventional positions
  • Most images are high quality

Other Feedback for changes-

  • Change image in the bottom left (See below) and replace with a image without a location or person such as a brick wall. This would allow a 'Thank you' message or Dedication panel
  • Shrink the size of Spotify logo on the poster
  • Include more institutional information such as copyright info

All this feedback will help me improve my products and convey my genre and target audience

iMovie Effects (Ending)

We wanted to show that the ending clips were an overview of the rest of the video to build a clear ending, so we tried using some iMovie effects. The video above is an effect called 'flashback', which is relevant to the purpose we need it for, as it makes it slightly black and white. This effect would feature on around seven clips. We will ask for some audience feedback on the use of the effect and take that into consideration before producing a final product.

Wall Of Glass- Finished?

After spending lot's of time editing and re-adjusting the footage, we are now happy that this is a near finished product. Since our last cut, we have reorganised the start of the video, trying to make the cup cuts less straining and more interesting. We believe the pace of the video is near perfect for the song, as we have deliberately focused on the beat of the music and placed this as a guideline for cuts. In our last lesson, we adjusted the positioning of some clips to make sure the beat remained edited well. I think this has significantly improved the video and we had positive audience feedback from our peers- this included

  • Good pace of editing
  • Variety of shots (particularly the outdoor performance scenes)
  • Camera Work was consistently good (no obvious blur or shakiness)
  • Good Ending- tied the video up well and used the pace of the music to build up the climax

Editing Diary

In yesterdays lesson, we watched the whole video a few times to pick out clips that needed to be added or ones that needed to be altered. We found this to be very effective and is likely to be what we do for the next couple of lessons because we are now focusing on the finer details now that all of the footage has been introduced into the video. We also started to swap some earlier clips with the new footage of Ryan lip syncing in the street as this footage is some of our best. Because we filmed this halfway through editing, there is none of this footage in most of the video so we have now started to include it. As previously mentioned, we will now continue to improve the video looking at minor things that will improve the video and we also still need to complete the final section of the video where we need to build up the tension to the moment where the man swings the bottle which I think we have done quite well already. Below is the footage that we recently filmed of Ryan lip syncing in the streets...

Back Cover (Font Change)

Following my research, I have decided to change the font of the text on the rear cover.I did not think that it looked right as it is also used for the title and this looks wrong. The new font (Steelfish) looks a lot cleaner and regular, which is important for the purpose to show information about the album.

New Panel

To add more variety to my digipak, I have created this image to replace one of my other panels. I think it works particularly well as the graffiti background adds more colour to the digipak.

Editing Diary (Near Completion)

Near Complete Editing Timeline from Tom Cornock on Vimeo.

Today, we have almost completed the whole video. We added the final section (a series of quick cuts) and tried to replace any shots which were too similar. We have tried to make the video as high quality as possible by checking the beat of the editing and the focus of shots. I have identified some minor issues which we will go back over, mainly timing issues, however the large proportional of the video is now completed. The video above showcase the iMovie timeline which we have created, highlighting our attempts to keep the cuts as short as the possible (the average shot lasting 1.3 seconds, the longest being around 3-4 seconds).

Although we have done the majority of editing, we have several steps to continue improving the video. Next Steps=
  • Audience Feedback (Teacher and Student)
  • Adding a footage overlay to give a vintage look
  • Adding the final few clips (About 4 needed)
  • Sync up the intro of video

Improving Information Panel

Digipak Poster Development

I needed to create another poster after more recent theme change to continue the brand. This will include the Front cover image of the main digipak panel,

I included the sections from the digipak to continue the theme which include the lines and colour strips. The canvas size is a portrait A4 document, which I think will stand out the most. This also worked well for the size of my image, allowing me to include space for institutional information.

The institutional information will consist of-
Spotify logo
Social Media icons (including handle)
Studio/Record Label
All rights reserved
Release Date
A review (If i change to out now)

I adapted the text as I edited the poster. I used the eclipse tool to create a circle, separating the two pieces of text. This gave a professional look and feel, allowing room for a review if i chose to include one.
