Further Editing
This panel is the same design but on the scanned disk- I prefer this to the white one and think I will choose this as my final CD Disc.
Alternate Disc
To avoid the image looking too flat, I scanned a real CD and edited it to include the necessary elements. To continue the theme, I used a VHS label and scanned my handwritten font and removed the background to give a realistic and consistent look. Once I merged the two layers, I edited a distortion effect around the centre of the CD. I think this looks good as I have chosen the 'Lighter Colour' overlay to avoid the two layers looking too abstract or dissimilar. Here is the setting I selected-
DISC panel
I have made a CD disc panel to match my theme. I have lifted the logo and theme from the front cover and placed on this CD. I do think that this looks slightly digital and flat so I will try to improve the look and quality of the image. I have left the black noise as it looks good and continues the VHS look.
I have also placed some institutional information, which includes the studio name (as seen in my previous research)

Digipak Progress- new adaptations

I developed my previous images and designs on Photoshop and ended up adding several more elements to my construction. I have continued the VCR/VHS theme due to the era of the music and its genre, and this is illustrated by the colour patches at the top and bottom of the screen. I have used the same worn effect and added lines to add a symmetrical and parallel style. I prefer the colour version to the black and white version but this could be used if it suited more other images well.
The top consists of the logo and I have changed the colour to black. I have decided to add noise in the background as this adds more texture to the cover and aligns with the theme well. I have moved the album title to the top of the cover also, perhaps a more logical position.

Digipak Poster Construction
I started the poster by editing the image like my other digipak panels. I left a white border which gave a nice effect also. I moved the title centrally and in a larger size so it is more visible and suits the purpose of the product better.
The next step was adding the artist logo. I also placed this centrally as it needs to grasp the attention of onlooking audiences. I did notice that the album title looks rather dull and so will need to adjust the brightness slightly to improve the look.
I then added institutional information such as the Spotify logo, Record label and Social Media links. This straight away made the poster look like a realistic advertisement and would fit well in a magazine etc.
Here is the current stage I am at making the poster. I adjusted the brightness of the album title font so it stand out well. I will ask for feedback from peers and teachers to make further adjustments.
Institutional Information
Here are some images I may need to include on my digipak (poster). The institutional information will include-
- A barcode- digipak
- Record Label- digipak and digipak poster
- Social Media links- digipak poster
- Spotify Label- digipak poster
- Release Date- digipak poster
- Copyright Logo (rights reserved)
- Review- digipak poster
- Formats available- digipak poster

Rear Cover
This is the type of design I would like to use for my rear cover. I have used the same font as the timecode for the different songs, however this may need to be changed if it looks to similar to the title. The image chosen works well as the actor is not central, meaning the text can be easily placed to one side. For easy visibility, I created a strip of noise (like the logo) to put the text over so the background lighting etc does not effect what can be seen. Here is a closer image of the noise strip used-
CD Panel
I have continued the VHS theme on the CD. I think this looks good, however I will seek feedback from class mates to see if I can improve in any way.
New Opening to video
I have decided that our initial start was good but rather repetitive and also too fast. Therefore, I have edited this slightly slower, using longer clips in the gaps of longer beats. I have continued the crosscutting between the narrative and performance as this sets up the video well. However, I have noticed a few minor errors in this version which I will amend. For instance, one jump cut is too long and the longer shot is not perfectly in sync with the audio. Overall, I feel this is the way forward for the introduction as it sets the scene as we wish to.
Inside Panel
Initially, I thought this image would be good on the rear cover, however I have re-considered and decided this is more of an inside panel suited image. On this image, I may include text such as producers etc as this is a convention I have seen throughout my research. The image itself suits the genre well as despite being a solo artist this equipment has heavy connotations to my indie genre. I also like the trainers inside the image, this casual clothing has been used throughout the digipak so i think this cements that it is specifically for my artist.

Digipak Progress (Front Cover)
After feedback from my teacher and classmates, I have made a front cover with a more intense image. To brand and sell my artist, it is important that he is the main focus of the shot. One the other panels, this is not so important, but on the front cover he clearly needs to be identified. The same effect has been used, which I am certain will now be my main design/theme, as it links to the genre and age of the music I am advertising well.

Filming Diary
Here is the edited video so far. We are making good progress, as the process if taking plenty of time due to the care we are taking with editing to the beat and lip syncing. In this video, we have included the newer performance clips from outside, which has came out incredibly well. The next step in the video is to continue editing to the beat and try to build tension of the other character approaching the protagonist. We may also test some zooms and iMovie options such as 'Ken Burns'.

Digipak Progress
Before adding the text/logo to this potential cover, I edited the mask layer to place the effect/strip where I wanted it. I removed the section covering the artists face using the normal eraser tool, this gave a cleaner image. I have put the album title in place of the timecode- naming it 'broken record'. I think this may work well as I would like to use a shattered CD on another panel, which would link well. Below is the cover that I have most recently created, I think with a few minor adjustments it could work well as a main cover.

Filming/Digipak shooting
Yesterday, we went out filming to add more performance footage to our video. We decided to go a urban looking location to lip sync a large majority of the song. We also went to a lit up subway for digipak images and some short clips. These will be placed in between other narrative sections to keep the video engaging and interesting. The videos and images came out very well, however we had to use iPhones instead of the Canon DSLR as the lighting affected this camera greatly. Here are some of the images taken:
